When I began to work in wood I occasionally made sculpture. As I progressed as a furniture-maker, sculptural expression became increasingly important to me, informing much of the work I produced in the 1990’s, until, after an interchange with Martim Puryear in 1997, I resolved to devote myself to it exclusively.
